This event will be an opportunity for schools to explore the THINKING KITS and CREATIVE PATHWAYS being created as well as meet the ARTISTS who are helping deliver these in schools.
EXPLORE THE WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
At THE GREAT IMAGINING BURNTWOOD SCHOOLS DAY on the 4th JULY we will be hosting schools to have a full day of experiences of all the THINKING KITS, LEARNING & CREATIVE PATHWAYS on offer as part of the whole programme for the next academic year. All these workshops will be available again on the Saturday for the family day.
FILM AND DOCUMENTARY
Find out about OUR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and our partners at DOCATHON. Explore subjects that you care about and learn all about the way to tell stories through the recording of a moving image. Then practice making a film about this to submit to next year’s film festival with the help of our FILM AND DOCUMENTARY CREATIVE PATHWAY.
THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE
Meet actor, theatre and film-maker Sian Reeves and create some live arts in response to your greener, fairer, wiser imagining. Explore costume, sound-effects, props, art direction as well as scripts and storyboarding. Get to perform your work on our The Great Imagining Stage and record the work for our online gallery.
MEDIA & PUBLISHING
Learn about different types of media as well as stories and news articles exploring a greener, fairer, wiser world with illustrator Josh Knowles. Write articles, as well as Letters to the Earth & Letters to Power. As well as written content, create artworks, illustrations and infographics in this workshop helping create a new TGI magazine for Staffordshire.
NATURE & REWILDING
Explore ideas around nature, conservation and rewilding. learn about soil health, meet some insects and practice some simple gardening. Draw a plant or an animal for our Spotters Guide as part of our new TGI magazine for Staffordshire.
FOOD & HEALTHY LIVING
Explore food and healthy living with food and healthy living expert Dr Sunni Patel and Green Mentor Stephen Whitehead. Create simple plant based recipes and contribute a recipe to our TGI magazine for Staffordshire
PEATLANDS
Work with international youth collective RE-PEAT and their BOG ACADEMY to learn more about this precious and valuable ecosystem and how to protect peatlands around STAFFORDSHIRE. Explore the tastes, smells, feel and sounds of this wetland habitat through the BOG-IN-A-BOX workshop and create a campaign poster to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of this important land.
RIVERS IN THE SKY
Work with artist and film-maker Adriana Meirelles, to discover the science and ecology of our rivers and our sky rivers and the communications between distant lands. Communicate with young people who live in an indigenous community the KAMBEBAS in the Brazilian Amazon as well as young people in a refugee camp in Uganda. Film a Citizen Storyfor the young people on the other side of the world and create an animated Forest Soul to share with them.
GAMES DESIGN
Learn about Games Design with designer Matteo Menapace and the TGI team and create a GAMES HACK to help communities learn more about climate change, social justice and other major topics.
THE WATER BILL
Learn all about Water and our water systems as well as the people who are championing these precious rivers and all the ecosystems that live in them. Find out how we can make sure these systems are protected and learn about The Water Billthat MP Clive Lewis has just sent for its second reading in parliament. Part of this bill proposes a national Citizens Assembly to make recommendations around ownership of our water and our water systems so as part of this workshop we will also learn how Citizens Assemblies work and how to create a Staffordshire Schools Citizens Assembly next academic year.

Explore the magical nature of the that surrounds us and makes life possible. Find out how we breath, how weather patterns work, and how the Earth’s climate is changing. Try out some citizens science to contribute to clean air in the Staffordshire region.
THE GREAT IMAGINING LIBRARY
Explore the books in The Great Imagining library and take part in a discussion and creative workshop to design the TGI Staffordshire Schools Book Club for next year. Create a poster to promote the book club in schools next year.

THE GREAT IMAGINING STAGE
We have special guests who will be performing on our TGI stage throughout the day. Our programme will include an open mike session for contributing spoken word, songs, theatre and ideas.
LICHFIELD REPAIR CAFE
Learn how to repair gadgets and household items with simple repairs and fixes, with our guest experts from LICHFIELD REPAIR CAFE. The team are creating this pop up fixing space on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th to share their usual services and expertise with schools students as well as the wider public.
STAFFORDshire SUSTAINABILITY BOARD (SSB)
Join the team at the Staffordshire Sustainability Board to find out more about biodiversity and what you can do in your own back garden. Create seed bombs and other pieces of gardening inspiration.
WASTE MINIMISATION ROADSHOW
Join the STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL team to learn all about our household waste and how to minimalise it. Play their conveyor belt game to discover more about recycling processes as well as demonstrate your skill throwing bean bags to see how much you know about products, bins and recycling. A Black Bin with an interactive screen is showcasing all of these vital topics for reducing the waste in Staffordshire and creating a Greener, Fairer, Wiser future.
